Introduction

Stakeholder engagement refers to a process of sharing information and knowledge in a meaningful manner, seeking to understand and respond to the concerns of individuals potentially impacted or affected by SESRP in a transparent, inclusive, and timely manner and building relationships based on trust. The scope of the SEP covers SESRP in its entirety in Somalia. As such, the SEP includes the various stakeholders positively, neutrally, and adversely affected by SESRP.

The SEP is intended to be initiated early in the project. The SEP is intended for both projects affected people, and other interested parties, The SEP is further developed within the applicable reference framework consisting of the regulatory framework and the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework.

  • To structure and manage the handling of comments, responses, and grievances, and allow monitoring of effectiveness of the mechanism; and
  • To ensure that comments, responses, and grievances are handled in a fair, timely and transparent manner in line with international best practice and WB expectations.
