About The Ministry

The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Federal Government of Somalia was established on January 2014.

The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of federal government of Somalia is headed by His Excellency Abdullahi Bidhaan Warsamewho was appointed by Presidential Decree No. 200/12, of October 1st. In the performance of his duties, The Minister is assisted by the deputy minister and State Minister who have been appointed by the same Presidential Decree.

Ministry's Mandate

The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources is responsible for the formulation, direction and coordination of the national energy and water resources. Furthermore, the ministry involves policymaking, setting standard operation, national planning, regulation, monitoring, and technical support of regional states in relation to energy and water resources in order to promote social and economic development of the country. In service delivery, the Ministry is supported by three autonomous organizations namely:
